Located in the rugged mountains of the San José region, Cantón de Mora has great views of the surrounding mountains and valleys with a pleasurable climate. The area has great vegetations and hillsides are covered in coffee plantations, dry lower forests and pre-mountain moist forests belt. Being a protected zone and having an active community, Cantón de Mora has some of the richest biodiversity in the region. See monkeys, reptiles, deer and numerous species of birds. Cantón de Mora is also home to the University for Peace, which has nice parks and walking trails. This area is a perfect escape to the mountains from the hustle of downtown San José.
