Puerto Jiménez

Puerto Jiménez is the largest town on the Osa Peninsula, the last of Costa Rican territory to be opened up to tourism. Because the Osa Peninsula was long considered a “no man’s land” it has only recently begun ecotourism projects intended to preserve the wild nature of the land, while at the same time allowing visitors to enjoy and protect it. As a result of ecotourism efforts, scarlet macaws and many monkeys are coming back to the area. Puerto Jiménez offers plenty of places to stay, to begin your exploration of this beautiful region.
