Tenorio National Park is best known for the beautiful Rio Celeste - Light Blue River. The park is an amazing rainforest, hasone of Costa Rica's most beautiful waterfalls, natural hot springs, as well as the unique phenomenon that happens at the river: clear water turning blue by means of a volcanic chemical reaction caused by the emanation of sulfur and the precipitation of calciumcarbonates.

Primary cloud forest and rainforest covers the park, which abounds with flora and fauna species in multiple life zones, innumerable rivers, waterfalls, thermal hot springs, and Laguna La Danta (Tapir Lake).

Park Facilities and Hours


Park entrance fee: $7.00 per person. The Ranger Station at Tenorio National Park is open for visitor attention from 8am to 4pm. It has restrooms, drinking water and first aid available.
The trails in the park lead to picnic and swimming areas, as well as trails to Tenorio Volcano and Montezuma Volcano.
