Rainy season still on...The Caribbean coast has a small dry season during this month, while the Mid Pacific and South coast have usual rainy season patterns : sunny mornings and rainy afternoons. Sometimes there is a dry spell of about three weeks on the Pacific side.

  • Nesting Period Olive Ridley Sea Turtle

The Olive Ridley Turtle, also known as the Pacific Ridley is one of the smallest  sea turtle, eventhough it can weigh as much as 45 kg (100 lbs) and have a length of up to 75 cm (30 in). It is named for the olive-green color of its heart-shaped shell.
- Location: Pacific coast
- Hatching: 50 to 60 days
- Nesting Period: Close to a moon season

 

  • Nesting Period Loggerhead Sea Turtles

Loggerhead Sea Turtles get their name for their exceptionally large head with heavy strong jaws. They grow up to 2.5 to 3.5 feet in carapace length (73-107 cm) and an adult can weight up to 350 pounds (159 kg).
- Location: Tortuguero National Park
- Hatching:50 to 70 days
- Nesting Period: May to August  

 

  • Nesting Period Green Sea Turtle

Green turtles are the largest of all the hard-shelled sea turtles. They are one of the few species so ancient that they watched the dinosaurs evolve and become extinct.
- Location: Tortuguero National Park

- Hatching:45 to 60 days
- Nesting Period: June to September 

 

  • Nesting Period Leatherback turtles

Leatherback sea turtles are the largest living marine reptiles and live almost their entire lives at sea. The only times that they are on land is when the female turtles lay eggs, and when hatchlings emerge from the nest and make their way to ocean.
- Location: Tortuguero National Park

- Hatching: 50 to 70 days
- Nesting Period: April to November

 

  • Nesting Period Hawsbill Sea Turtles

The hawksbill turtle is small to medium-sized compared to other sea turtle species. Adults weigh 100-150 lbs (45 to 68 kg) on average, but can grow as large as 200 lbs (91 kg).
- Location: Atlantic (Tortuguero National Park) & Pacific (Playa Ostional, Playa Grande, Osa Peninsula)

- Hatching: 50 to 60 days
- Nesting Period: May to October

Nationwide pilgrimage honoring the Patron Saint of Costa Rica, " la Negrita", religious processions to the Basilica in Cartago. National Holiday, banks will be closed.

 

  • Día de San Ramón (August 30th)

A religious procession of 30 Saints from neighboring towns come to visit the Patron Saint, who lives in the town of the same name - San Ramón goes dancing through the streets, and locals love the parades.
