Rincón de la Vieja

Rincón de la Vieja National Park is one of Costa Rica’s most varied parks.  The two main attractions of the park are its active volcanoes, Rincón de la Vieja and Santa María featuring nine massive craters. Some of these craters hold volcanic lakes which erupt periodically spouting mud, steam and ash down the rivers and into the sky.  The park is also known for its white water rafting-rivers, and diverse wildlife, including hundreds of species of birds, deer, monkeys, jaguars, sloths and more. To get the best views of the different flora and fauna go for a canopy tour, take a dip in the sulfur hot springs, or visit the fresh water volcanic lagoon.
