Alajuela

Bordering Nicaragua to the North, Alajuela is one of the largest provinces in Costa Rica. With the wide variety of landscapes that this province covers, it is easy to observe a wide variety of ecosystems. This province, primarily in the Northern Region, boasts amazing wonders from great mountain ranges to spectacular volcanoes. Parts of three mountain ranges, the Central, Tilarán and Guanacaste ranges, are located in Alajuela.
